Happy Chinese New Year! 新年快樂

In honor of the beginning of the Chinese New Year celebration, we Browns want to share some photos of our recent visit to the Chinese Lantern Festival display in Dallas, Texas.  It was quite gorgeous! Scroll all the way down to link to even more photos.

除舊佈新

It was a COLD evening, but worth the chill.

Trav was mesmerized by the dragon.
This super-long dragon was made of plates and dishes!

More beautiful lanterns.

Some whimsical designs.

  2. Our family has been looking for stuff to celebrate Chinese New Year, how did you know about this event, and do you know how I could be notified of this kind of thing in the future? It looked like so much fun!

  3. Thanks, kelli! Kathy, are you in Dallas? I had heard a little bit about some kind of Chinese display at Fair Park, but had no idea what it was until about a week before we were traveling to Dallas to visit family. I googled the event and it was PRICY! But I asked on Facebook if anyone knew of any discounts and if it was worth seeing. Gotta love social media, because I quickly learned 1: it's worth visiting and 2: there is a Groupon for half off! Yay!
Are you involved with an FCC group? (Families with Chinese Children). Most cities have an FCC chapter and will keep you up-to-date on Chinese festivals, holidays, and other displays.

  4. I will add that since moving to Austin, we aren't connected with an FCC group. I find out about events by checking the FCC Austin website and also by googling information. We found the local "Chinatown Center" which is a good source of info. There is also a Chinese preschool/afterschool here that holds some special events.
