Travel Day
The Brown household was awake and up around by 7am. After showers and getting dressed, I finished up preparing items our carry-on while Ken turned off and unplugged everything and the Brownies watched some TV. We were ready and not looking forward to sitting around for 2 1/2 hours, so were happy the girls’ friends, Trinity and Mariah showed up to visit. Soon after, Nana and Pappy dropped by to bring us a carry-on bag and a boat-load of books and clothes a couple of friends from their church sent us for the boys. After a few pictures and packing up the carry-on, we were ready to get going, so phoned the car service to pick us up early.
We were on our way by 9am! Check-in was uneventful and we were early enough, we caught the earlier flight that left at 10:55. We weren’t SO early, though that we didn’t have time to visit the Admiral Club Lounge. Ken travels so much, this is one of the benefits he uses often. It was nice to have a comfy place to sit and get a snack and drinks. Before we knew it, it was time to board our flight.
The two-hour flight to Chicago was quick. Disembarking began our 8-hour layover at Chicago O’Hare. This time, having Club access is invaluable! We killed the time by playing board games, enjoying our electronic devices, walking around the airport for an hour, watching Disney Channel, and snacking. The Brownies just enjoyed 3 minutes each in a massage chair. Not bad for a dollar. Hannah and Ken even took showers to freshen up. Nice!
On each leg our trip, my thoughts turn to what it will be like on the way back. If I think I’m tired now, I know it's nothing compared to how we'll be feeling when we're heading home. All five of us were already pretty tired half-way through our layover; we did seem to get our second wind though. Now it's time to board!
